Angela Gentile

Angela Gentile è un’artista orafa con studio-laboratorio a Salerno. Inizia a lavorare nel 1987 nel campo della gioielleria classica realizzando i suoi gioielli a mano, da lastra e filo di metallo prezioso, attraverso le antiche tecniche del traforo, della modellazione del filo, dello sbalzo e della saldatura.Parallelamente però la sua crescente esigenza di libertà creativa ed espressiva la portano ad utilizzare nei suoi gioielli anche materiali poveri ed elementi naturali recuperati. Di qui l’approccio alla scultura in cartapesta ed al gioiello scultura e contemporaneo.

Affascinata dalla leggerezza e versatilità della cartapesta, dalla sua potenza espressiva, dal 2010 non ha mai interrotto il suo studio su questo materiale che oggi realizza con carta di recupero, colla di farina e che dipinge con pigmenti naturali tratti da piante tintoree e terre. Nel suo lavoro, opere e materiali anche molto diversi e distanti riflettono il dialogo dell’artista con stati dell’animo ed elementi naturali che si sovrappone in un duplice racconto.

Angela Gentile is a goldsmith artist with studio-workshop in Salerno. She began working in 1987 in the field of classical jewelry by making his jewelry by hand, from slab and precious metal wire, through the ancient techniques of tunnel, wire modeling, overhang and welding. At the same time, however, her growing need for creative and expressive freedom lead her to use in her jewelry also poor materials and natural elements recovered. Hence the approach to papier-mâché sculpture, sculptural jewel  and contemporary jewellery.

Fascinated by the lightness and versatility of the papier-mâché, its expressive power, since 2010 she has never stopped her study on this material that today realizes with recovered paper, glue of flour and that paints with natural pigments taken from dyeing plants and earths. In his work, very different and distant works and materials reflect the artist’s dialogue with moods and natural elements that overlap in a double story. “
