Cartalana / Gioielli di Carta fatti a mano in Italia
Cartalana è un brand indipendente di gioielli di carta fatti a mano con carta da macero e carta pregiata mescolata a metalli e pietre naturali.
Nasce nel 2012 da un'idea di Marcella Stilo che progetta e poi realizza i monili con carta filata come la lana grazie al fuso a mano, strumento utilizzato sin dalla preistoria per trasformare la lana e altre fibre animali e vegetali in filato. Il modello di produzione è basato sull’upcycling ovvero sull’utilizzo di materiale di scarto destinato a essere gettato per creare nuovi oggetti dal valore maggiore del materiale originale. I carta-gioielli sono quindi a impatto zero, poiché ottenuti da un materiale facilmente riciclabile come carta, e la loro realizzazione rientra nel virtuoso sistema della circular economy.
Cartalana è la magia della trasformazione, uno spazio dell'immaginazione dove la materia fluisce libera fra le mani assumendo forma di piccole, lievi, stelle che risplendono di femminilità; è l’energia di Madre Terra incanalata nella materia, è l'antica sapienza del gesto delle tessitrici della Magna Grecia, è la forza rigeneratrice della Natura che attinge da se stessa per tornare a nuova Vita.
Cartalana is an independent brand of handmade paper jewelry made from waste paper and fine paper mixed with metals and natural stones.
It was born in 2012 from an idea of Marcella Stilo who designs and then makes the jewelry with paper spun like wool thanks to the hand spindle, a tool used since prehistoric times to transform wool and other animal and plant fibers into yarn. The production model is based on upcycling, or the use of waste material that was meant to be thrown away to create new objects of greater value than the original material. The paper-jewels are therefore zero-impact, since they are made from an easily recyclable material such as paper, and their creation is part of the virtuous system of the circular economy.
Cartalana is the magic of transformation, a space of the imagination where matter flows freely between the hands taking the form of small, slight, stars that shine with femininity; it is the energy of Mother Earth channeled into the material, it is the ancient wisdom of the gesture of the weavers of Magna Graecia, it is the regenerating force of Nature that draws from itself to return to new Life.
