Comieco participates in the European Week for Waste Reduction

It is a major European environmental communication campaign supported by the Ministry of the Environment and of Land and Sea Protection, as well as by CONAI and the Pipeline Consortia CIAL, COMIECO, COREPLA, COREVE, and RICREA.

Every year the EWWR focuses on a specific theme connected with waste prevention and reduction, and this year’s theme is “Invisible Waste”, i.e. the huge amount of waste generated by product manufacturing and distribution processes, which is invisible to us. The main theme is also associated with an official catch phrase, “What is your real weight?”, a challenge to be informed and aware of the weight we all carry on our shoulders because of not too sustainable production and consumption patterns.

Within the framework of the European Week for Waste Reduction, Comieco introduces two projects to support paper and board packaging waste Prevention and Recycling.

• Guidelines for sustainable e-commerce packaging

Within the framework of the European Week for Waste Reduction (EWWR), Comieco launches the “Guidelines and Checklist for the appropriate use of e-commerce packaging in view of environmental sustainability” originating from a close cooperation between Netcomm Logistics & Packaging for e-commerce and Comieco aimed at stimulating companies in the logistic pipeline through the provision of practical tools to improve their ability to assess and manage the environmental impact of packaging. These guidelines include eight key points, representing as many approaches that companies need to adopt to demonstrate their commitment towards sustainability.

The checklist contained in the guide allows companies to assess the appropriate implementation of the guidelines.
