Daniele Papuli, 1971, Maglie- Milano. Si definisce uno “scultografo” in continuo dialogo con le materie, gli spazi, i luoghi.
Recenti i progetti in Asia: The Carving of Dunhang, sculture ispirate al sito Unesco di Mogao; The Realm, a Shanghai, a Lakeville; Scultografie a Milano da Assab One con una grande installazione di carta e performance partecipata. Importanti i contributi che gli sono stati dedicati sulla stampa italiana ed internazionale, su riviste di settore ed in pubblicazioni internazionali che lo inseriscono nel panorama mondiale della Paper Art. Dal 2012 firma e produce i suoi oggetti multipli di carta di piccolo e medio formato con il marchio Uff design by Papuli per Bergdorf Goodman a New York, Neiman Marcus a Dallas e per SKP a Pechino.
UFF è il suono e la parola di un soffio. Un buon respiro con una manciata di “effe” in più per mettere scompiglio a fogli e disegni di un laboratorio d’artista, il mio. Ciò che ne deriva è un microcosmo di forme e visioni di piccolo e grande formato. Di carta ovviamente, indagata da più di venti anni e materie affini flessuose in strisce e lamellari. UFF design è il comune denominatore di diverse cose: un piccolo manufatto fatto bene, un’esperienza sensoriale a tutto tondo, un oggetto a portata di mano, un’idea che parla con altre idee, con lo spazio. Messo scompiglio a fogli e disegni si produce un inventario di cose che non hanno a che vedere con la praticità di ciò che per abitudine si definisce design, piuttosto con la possibilità di disporre e predisporre un reale immaginario, giocoso e sorprendente.

Recent projects in Asia: The Carving of Dunhang, sculptures inspired by the Unesco site of Mogao; The Realm, in Shanghai, in Lakeville; Sculptures in Milan by Assab One with a large paper installation and participatory performance. Important contributions have been dedicated to him in the Italian and international press, in sector magazines and in international publications that place him in the world panorama of Paper Art. Since 2012 he has been signing and producing his multiple small and medium-sized paper objects with the Uff brand design by Papuli for Bergdorf Goodman in New York, Neiman Marcus in Dallas and for SKP in Beijing.
In Italian, UFF is the sound and the word for a puff. A good breath with a handful of “f” to mess up sheets and drawings in an artist’s work-room. What comes out is
a microcosm of small and big-size shapes and visions. Made of paper, of course, that I explored for more than twenty years, and of similar, lissom, striped, lamellar matters. “Uff design” is the common denominator of different things: a small artefact made down to a fine art,a sensory in-the-round experience, an object at hand, an idea that speaks with other ideas, with space. To mess up sheets and drawings produces an inventory of things which have nothing to do with the practicalness of what, by habit, is defined as design, rather, with the possibility of having and arranging a playful, amazing, imaginary, real.
