Uno dei giochi preferiti dai bambini é costruirsi una casa con le cose che hanno a portata di mano. La cosa importante é che la casa sia a misura di bambino, per potersi rifugiarsi e giocare protetto da delle pareti e da un tetto. Uno spazio privato dove sono invitati solo quelli che ci stanno dentro.
Villa Julia é una proposta di casa per bambini in cartone da piegare, la possono montare i bambini stessi (con l’aiuto di un adulto), trovarle una collocazione e farla propria colorando le sue facciate. Il gioco che propone Villa Julia si sviluppa in varie fasi: montaggio, personalizzazione e decorazione, collocazione e smontaggio.
Come le vere case, Villa Julia ha un camino, una grondaia, una porta e finestre.
Le sue linee ricordano le casette unifamiliari tipiche della classe media americana degli anni 50. Uno stile che si associa con le “case delle favole” attuali, come una volta lo erano le capanne nei boschi e i castelli con torri dove vivevano le principesse e le fate.

One of children’s favourite games is to build themselves a house using a big cardboard box, four stakes and a blanket or any other object at their disposal.
The most important thing is to have a house on their own scale: a small house made to their measure, where children can hid and play sheltered by walls and roof.
A private space where only children can be invited in.
Villa Julia is a children’s house made in folded cardboard in a way that children can assembly it by themselves (with help of an adult).
Children can then found a place for their house and decorate it as they prefer, colouring the drawings on the façades.
The game proposed by Villa Julia develops in four steps: assembly, personalization and decoration, placement and disassembly.
As the real houses Villa Julia has a chimney, eaves, front door and windows.
Its lines remind those of the small one-family houses of the American middle classes in the 50s. A style associating with the present “fairy tales houses”, which in the past were the huts in the wood and the castles with towers where princesses and fairies lived.
